One day, other events were claimed by Covid-19 and Delta variants. Earlier this year, we saw EVO 2021 moving almost entirely online after the ongoing pandemics. The original plan is to host many tournaments online and then invite the best players in the world for the Evo 2021 live event in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Evo organizers announced today that the EVO 2021 showcase will no longer occur according to the plan.

Evo organizers share news today on Twitter, saying that the players invited to the EVO 2021 showcase will be contacted by Evo staff in recognition of their efforts. Instead of moving the online showcase, it seems that the Evo organizer has decided to cancel it completely, it is likely because of the fact that one of the main motivations behind the showcase is to host small and personal events.

“The purpose of the Evo Showcase is to unite the best players from all over the world in direct format, in-people,” today’s statement rang. “Because of the sustainable complications of Covid-19 and the distribution of Delta variants, we have made difficult decisions to cancel the Evo 2021 showcase.”

“The players were invited to participate in the EVO 2021 showcase representing many of the best fighters in the world,” said the statement to say. “We are very sad to cancel the event. The Evo team will contact each player individually to recognize their efforts. We remain dedicated to the Evo mission to celebrate FGC, and will continue to work towards the return of the direct events you expect from us.”

Earlier this summer, the Evo organizers announced that the EVO 2022 will occur directly in Las Vegas. The current plan is to host the event in Las Vegas from August 5 to 7, but of course, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic can change the plan. We will tell you what happened from here, so stay here for more.
