The Nintendo Switch remains one of the most loved game consoles in recent years, but is far from perfect. In fact, it might also be too old to compete with the current generation of consoles, at least as far as playing on a large screen. It has made wishes and rumors on the Nintendo Switch which is capable of 4K only stronger, but, once again, the company officially denied that it shared the Dev kit for developers to work on compatible games with new models.
Rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pro have been going on for years, but the closest update that the console has ever had is the Nintendo Switch OLED model announced last July. It has specifications that are almost the same as the original, except for OLED and 64GB storage. Still can’t even support 1440p or 2k resolution when connected to a TV or monitor like that.
There are still some hopes that the 4K Nintendo switch will be coming soon, and the Bloomberg report recently tried to trigger the fire. The sources, some of Zynga game developers, claim that Nintendo has shared a development kit for developers, encourages them to write software that supports 4K resolution. The kit is practically similar to the current Nintendo switch but with additional memory for debugging and port to connect to a computer.
Nintendo, however, once again denied the reports in tweets to investors. It was said that the report was incorrect and had no plans on a new switch model besides the OLED variant. Certain consoles will actually be launched on October 8, so it can be understood that Nintendo does not want customers and investors to think their purchases are obsolete in just a few months.
However, Nintendo’s strategy did put it in a rather precarious situation of the switch too long on the teeth now. Even ignoring screen resolution, device hardware has begun to show its age. While promises to play games anywhere are still a large seller, as indicated by interest in the vapor deck valve, it won’t be long before gamers start demanding titles with higher quality and graphics performance than available in the switch, especially it’s just porting to the handheld console.
